About Steffie
I’ve helped students improve by multiple grade boundaries to A* level within a year by combining warm encouragement with intellectual challenge and exam-style thinking. Achieving 45/45 in IB and a first-class degree in English literature from Oxford, I know from the inside what examiners are looking for - and what elevates a generic point to a compelling argument. That knowledge is what I now share with my students.
I am a lifelong learner who strives for excellence and joy in all I do. I have 12 years of experience in participatory approaches and online learning - cultivating safe spaces where people can discover for themselves. I also have experience working with children with special educational needs. I know how to pass exams, but, more importantly, I know how to live with curiosity and purpose.

English literature is one of the most exciting and relevant subjects: all about people, empathy and how we see the world. Our sessions will be enjoyable and challenging, enabling you not just to pass exams but to develop the kind of analytical thinking that universities like Oxford reward. They will be built around your learning style and desired focus: whether essay structure, literary analysis, or how to write with confidence and clarity. I'm encouraging and patient, while giving specific feedback about exactly how to improve. Whether you're preparing for Oxbridge interviews, working on a personal statement, or wanting to improve close reading at A-Level, I can help you take what you have and find the originality and flair that universities are looking for.
I teach online, which means I work with students across the UK and internationally. I work with a small number of students at a time, so every student receives personalised attention. I offer an initial session for free where we'll identify exactly where you are, where you want to get to, and how we'll get there together. I look forward to hearing about your goals.

Perfect! Steffie is an amazing tutor who has always helped me articulate my thoughts more than I can!
One thing I love about her approach is how she meets me in my headspace and just has a way of unraveling my thoughts, then brings them out into writing.

I would not hesitate to recommend Steffie to anyone seeking an outstanding English tutor.I am Mr. Macdonald Nkhutabasa, a Malawian based in Blantyre, Malawi, and the Founder of Chimwemwe Children’s Centre, a community-based organisation working in Baluti Village. Chimwemwe aims to create lasting change for children, youth, and their communities. We work in one of the poorest and most vulnerable communities in Malawi, where many children are exposed to significant challenges such as lack of access to education, poverty, substance abuse, and exploitation. Through education support, mentorship, spiritual guidance, and community outreach, we seek to restore hope, dignity, and opportunity for those who need it most.
It is within this context that I am honored to write this recommendation for Stephanie Kemp, someone I have had the privilege of knowing for most of her life. I first met Stephanie when she was just one and a half years old, during the time when I lived with her parents. Over the years, I have watched her grow into a mature, responsible, and deeply compassionate young woman. Her natural care for others, especially children and young people, has always stood out, and it has only strengthened with time.
I have also had the opportunity to work alongside Stephanie in outreach efforts to support street-connected children and other vulnerable young people at risk. In this context, I have seen firsthand her deep passion and unwavering commitment to making a difference. She does not simply engage at a surface level, she invests in the lives of young people with genuine love, patience, and dedication. Because of her involvement, I have witnessed remarkable transformations in the lives of many children and youth, who have grown into more confident, responsible, and independent individuals.
Stephanie possesses all the qualities of an outstanding educator and mentor. She is patient, approachable, and highly empathetic, creating an environment where students feel safe, valued, and encouraged to grow. She has a natural ability to connect with young people from diverse and challenging backgrounds, inspiring trust and confidence in them. Her communication skills are excellent, and she knows how to adapt her approach to meet the unique needs of each individual. Beyond her technical ability, it is her character—her integrity, consistency, and genuine care—that truly sets her apart.
One experience that particularly stands out to me is our work together in Baluti Village, where the socio-economic challenges are immense and opportunities are limited. Many young people in this community face difficult realities, including exposure to alcohol, drugs, and prostitution. When we first began reaching out in this community, the challenges seemed overwhelming. However, Stephanie played a crucial role in engaging these young people, building trust, and encouraging them to pursue a different path.
Over the years, the impact of that work has been extraordinary. More than 85% of the young people we reached have returned to school; some have successfully completed high school, and others have gone on to college. This transformation is a powerful testament to Stephanie’s commitment, her ability to build meaningful relationships, and her skill in guiding and teaching young people. Most importantly, it reflects her deep love and care for those she serves.
I wholeheartedly recommend Stephanie Kemp to the Superprof community. She brings not only skill and experience, but also passion, integrity, and a proven ability to positively impact the lives of her students. Any student who has the opportunity to learn from her will not only gain knowledge but will also be encouraged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.
I would highly recommend Steffie as a tutor. As someone with my own teaching and tutoring experience, I know how important it is to combine strong subject knowledge with the ability to explain concepts clearly, and she does both exceptionally well. She is highly academic, achieving outstanding results including 45 points in the IB and a 1st from Oxford, but is also very approachable and focused on helping others maximise their understanding and marks. Over the past eight years, a key part of her professional role has involved developing and delivering training programmes for both community groups and facilitators, demonstrating strong communication, teaching, and mentoring skills.
She is excellent at working with learners of all ages and abilities, combining patience, kindness, and encouragement. Her own achievements reflect her ability to challenge and stretch high-achieving students. Through her professional experience, she is also used to adapting her approach to meet people where they are and build confidence alongside understanding. So you can be confident that no matter your level she can help. She also has volunteering experience supporting individuals with special educational needs, which further reflects her patience, adaptability, and inclusive approach to learning. She is supportive, approachable, and highly effective at helping others progress. Anyone who works with her as a tutor and engages with the process would benefit immensely from her guidance and expertise.Stephanie has been incredibly helpful in my progress and development as a student. I first got to know her from going to the same church. Her patient and encouraging nature drives me to do my very best in my studies. I have no doubt she can have the same effect to other students as well.
